[Per United Press Association.] Taupo, October 17. A violent shock of earthquaKe was felt here at ten minutes past five yesterday morning. The tremor of the ground lasted 20 seconds, with direction from Tongariro. As soon as the weather clears a couple of diggers start for Tuhua, accompanied by some natives belonging to that district. Wellington, October 17. Mr. F. Allen, asssistant-manager of the Colonial Insurance Company, has been appointed general manager, vice Mr. G. T. Graham, resigned. Dunetin, October 17. Thomas Luther Sheppard, found in the street on Wednesday, having been struck with paralysis, is still in the hospital, and it will be some time before he gets about again. He had made application to Government for employment, and only that night (Wednesday) Mr. Driver had received a telegram from the Premier acceding to the application.
