[Per United Press Association.] Christchurch, October 15. The New Zealand Shipping Company have received the following telegram from Hobart, dated October 13 :—“ Doric, from London, arrived here all well on Sunday at 9 a.m., and sailed for Wellington at G p.m.” Wellington, October 15. At a meeting yesterday of Poppens’ creditors, the official assignee stated after paying Detective Cheymol’s expenses for bringing the debtor back, he thought there would be sufficient in hand to pay 17s 6d in the £. Auckland, October 15. Two boys named Arthur Handa and J. Fowler, inmates of the Kohimarama Training School, narrowly escaped death by eating tutu berries. Their heads became swollen, and they had to be kept walking to prevent their going into a state of coma.
