THE LONDON HOP MARKET. Messrs. W. H. & H. Le May report under date August 18The market is steady now, and a few small orders are placed on the market at the reduced prices now current. The high temperature is putting condition into the growing crops, and the quality promises to be exceedingly good in the best cultivated grounds, and will be so if all goes on favorably now, but here and there traces of Red Mould and Spider can be found, which if not checked, will effect the quality. We now estimate the crop to yield £150,000 old duty (equal to 3,000,000 cwts.) The imports of foreigh hops into England last week were 132 bales; for the corresponding week last year 187 bales. The total imports of foreign hops into England from October Ist. 1883, to August 9th, 1884, were 92,271 bales; For the corresponding period last year 68,717.

Current Prices 1883’s:—East Kents, £7 10s to £9 ; Mid. Kents, £7 10s to £8 8s; Wealds, £7 to £8 ; Sussex, £6 15s to £8 ; Worcester, £7 10s to £8 10s; Farnhams, £7 10s to £8 8s; Americans, £6 10s to £7 10s; Bavarians, £7 to £l2; Alost, £6 6s to £6 10s; Poperinghe, £6 6s to £6 10s ; Yearlings, £5 12s to £7 ; Old Olds, £3 to £5; Australians, 18g3, £6 to- £7 10s; Australians, 1883, £5 5s to £6 10s.

A recent number of the Sussex Advertiser writes as follows of the hop market :—“ The market meanwhile remains slow, with a firmer tendency. The total imports of foreign hops into England from October 1. 1883, to July 26, 1884, were 91,611 bales. For the corresponding period last year, 68,399 bales.
