Franco-Chinese War.
[Reuter’s Telegrams] . Hong Kong, October 5. News from Formosa is to hand showing that the French were completely successful in their operations on that island. Admiral Courbet has secured possession of Kelung and a strong body of French troops is occupying the town. The Chinese batteries at Tamsui have been captured by Admiral Lespes, and have since been dismantled and rendered ineffective.
