AGRICULTURAL & PASTORAL SOCIETY.

A general committee meeting of the above society was held on Saturday afternoon last. Present—Messrs. A. Graham (President), M. Smith (Vice-President), Espie, H. Davis, J. Clark, J. Allan, M. Hall, S. Hare, H. Walker, D. Reid. D. Murchie, and the secretary. The minutes of last meeting were read and confirmed. The secretary stated he had communicated with Mr. Bishop, Hastings, re judges, and had had no reply. Place of Show. The ground committee reported that Mr. Rees had kindly lent one of his paddocks for the show. After discussion it was resolved that the show be held there, and that the charge for admission be 25.. children half-price. That no visitors, horses, or vehicles be allowed within the show ground, but that an adjoining paddock would be available for them for a charge of Is. for each horse. Alteration of Rules. The proposed alteration of rules Nos. 1 and 2, to be observed by exhibitors, was again passed unanimously by the committee, and it was resolved that they be [brought before a special general meeting on the 4th October for confirmation. Programme Committee. It was resolved that Messrs. Graham, Clark, and the Secretary be a Committeee to draft out a programme and submit to the General Committee Meeting on Saturday, October 4th. Preparation Committee. A resolution was carried to the effect that Messrs. Espie, H. Davis, M. Hall and the Secretary be a Committee, and mark off the ground for the different exhibits, and otherwise prepare it. The Jump. The weights for the three high jumps was fixed at 11 stone. J udges. Mr. M. Smith stated that Mr. J. Wallace, whet was a good judge of sheep and cattle, would act as judge, from Auckland. The Secretary was instructed to again communicate with Mr. Bishop, and suggest Mr. J. N. Williams for sheep and cattle, and any two of the following gentlemen for horses, viz:—Messrs. Wm. Douglas, Willwood or Lyons.
