HOSPITAL BALL.

The Annual Hospital Ball was held last night at Messrs. Parnell and Boylan’s Hall, when a most enjoyable evening was spent, not only by those “ tripping the light fantastic.” but also by the onlookers, of whom there were a large number in the gallery. The room was most tastefully and artistically decorated with evergreens on the walls and around the pillars, which was set of to advantage by a display of bunting hung across the ceiling. Evidently great trouble had been taken in preparing the stage, which presented the appearance of a drawing room, being well carpeted and furnished with easy-chairs, sofas, &c., and was boxed in on both sides by the scenery. The supper was splendidly arranged and superintended by the caterer, Mr. Craig, and all the delicacies of the season were exhibited on the table. During the whole of the evening refreshments were supplied at a bar erected on the left hand side of the stage, and during the second part of the programme soup, tea, and coffee were obtainable. The music which was provided by the Artillery Band under Mr. Faram was par excellence, and we cannot pass it by without some brief mention of praise to which it is fully entitled. The masterly style and exceedingly good time in which they played on this occasion reflects much credit on the performers, and proves that they have expended no little time and trouble in practice to arrive at such a state of efficiency. The Committee who have had the management of the Ball must be complimented for their untiring efforts to bring the affair to a successful issue, and we trust the result will reward their exertions.
