[Specially Compiled fop. the Telephone."! [Own Correspondent.] Auckland, September 25. At the Haymarket, fodder was plentiful, and., at previous week’s values. Oats were slightly firmer in price, and brought 2s 9d to 2s lOd the bushel; feeding barley 2s 6d; sound maize, 3s 9d to 4s 2d ; damaged, from 2s 6d to 2s lOd the bushel. Horse stock, particularly unbroken medium braught, were plentiful, and lower in price, about £3 each ; broken draught were also at slightly lower values. At the hide and skin sale on Tuesday, a large number of hides were pitched of very variable quality. Prices ranged from IJd to 4gd the lb. ; tallow, from 22s to 25s the cwt.; sheep skins, from Is lOd to 4s each; wool, s|d the lb. The country cattle sales held during the week have been well supported both with stock and purchasers. Prices, for stores, particulary grown cattle, have improved, and dairy cows are in brisk demand. At Remuera, dairy cattle were in brisk enquiry, at an advance on late values. About 200 store steers, from three to four years old, were yarded, and were steadily competed for. Prices ranged with condition from £3 12s 6d to £3 5s each ; calves, 18s to 27s ; yearlings, £2 to £2 10s each ; fat cattle in moderate supply, and generally of good quality. Prices ranged from 23s to 25s the lOOlbs., and best quality were steady at the latter price; well fatted calves in demand at full prices: sheep in average number; best wethers at 3|d the lb.; lambs plentiful, and at last week’s values; pigs short of requirement, and at extreme prices. Prices for Farm and Dairy Produce.— Wholesale : Butter, fresh, Is ; butter, salt 8d to lOd ; cheese, good local, 5d to 6|d ; Canterbury, do, 5d to 6|d ; eggs, per doz, 8d ; lard, per bladder, 7|d ; bacon and hams, Provincial, 6d to 8d; hams, 8d to 9d ; Canterbury ham and bacon, 9d, in cloth ; hams only lid ; jams, per case, 5 doz, £1 12s 6d ; fowls, per pair, 2s 6d to 4s ; feathers, baked, clean and selected, Is 6d to Is 9d per lb. Retail: Milk, per quart, 4d ; butter, fresh, Is 3d ; salt do., lOd to Is ; cheese, colonial, do, 8d to 9d ; eggs, per doz, lOd; lard, per lb, 6d to 9d; fowls, each, 2s to 3s ; ducks, do, 2s to 3s ; geese, do., 5s to 7s ; turkeys, do, 5s to 8s 6d ; bacon, per lb, lOd to Is ; hams, do, Is to Is 4d. Rates for Building Materials.—Timber: Boards and Scantling, 100 ft, 10s to 15s, best dressed, 18s to 19s 6d; second class, 9s to 12s 6d; rustic weather boards, 17s to 18s. Mills: Cargo, best, 12s to 14s 6d; second class, 6s to Bs. Balk, 6s 6d to 7s. Bricks (at Whau), 35s to 40s; Town Yards, £2 5s to £2 10s per 1000. Drain Pipes, per 1000, 6 inches bore, £l5; 4 inches, £7 10s; 3 inches, £5; 2 inches, £2 10s per 1000; Socket Glazed Pipes, 18 inches, 4s; 15 inches, 4s 6d; 12 inches, 3s; 9 inches, 2s; 6 inches, Is; 4 inches, 9d ; 3 inches, 7d per foot.
