C.J.C. SPRING MEETING. [Own CobresfoxdexiJ CnnisTCHVBCH, Setember 23. Cheviot has been scratched for all his engagements at the Canterbury Jockey Club Spring Meeting. Wbstpobt, September 23. The proposed “Black Diamond ” consultation on the Melbourne Cup has been abandoned, and persons holding tickets will have their money returned upon presenting their tickets. The programme for the Otama Athletic and Race Meeting is to hand. The events are:—Maiden Steeplechase of £l2; Foot Race, £5; Waireka Handicap of £l5; Football Match; Handicap Steeplechase of £2O; Foot Race, £2; Novel Hack Race of £l5; Foot Race, £2; Hack Race of £5; Tug-of-War; Consolation Race of £5. At a meeting of the committee of the Westland Racing Club, held at the Cafd last week, it was resolved to hold a race meeting at Christmas, and to offer stakes amounting to £390. The Club have a balance of £l7O to the good. . Reefton is out with the programme for its Summer Meeting, to be held on December 26 and 27. In all £379 will be given in stakes which is a considerable reduction on last season’s bill of fare. Nominations for the Inangahua Cup and the District Handicap close on October 21.
