Extraordinary Shooting Case.
[Per United Press Association.] Dunedin, August 29. At the inquest on the man Burns, the companions who were with him asserted that it was his own gun that went off. They, however, were in front of him and when they looked round they saw him on the ground and his gun a couple of yards from him. Dr. Coughtrey, who made a post mortem examination, deposed deceased was not shot by the gun held in his own hand. The pellets were spread over a diameter of eight inches, and they would not thus spread at so short a distance. The wounds also entered the head transversely, and there were no marks of singeing or burning. The jury returned a verdict that deceased was accidentally shot by his own gun.
