AUSTRALIANS V. ALL ENGLAND.

MATCH DRAWN. (beuteb’s telegrams.) London, August 13. The cricket match at the Oval, Australians v. England, was resumed, and concluded to-day, the contest ending in a draw, as want of time prevented its being completed. The English Eleven in their first innings scored a total of 346. With the exception of Mr. A. G. Steele, Scotton, and W. W. Read, none of the Eleven made a stand against the bowling of Palmer and Spofforth. When Steele and Scotton we r e in parine l ship they became well set, and runs were freely scored, Scolton being in excellent form. Stee’e, howeve*, was taken 1.b.w., when he had contributed 31. Read, on joining Scotton, succeeded in adding materially to the sco’-e, and between the two a good display of batting was afforded to the spectators. Scotton was caught, however, when he had run up a well played 90. Those who followed failed to remain long at the wickets, but Read continued to bat splendidly, and maintained his stand till the close of the innings, when he was bowled, his scoie standing at 117. Being in a minority of 205 the Englishmen had to follow on. Barlow and Lyttelton went in first, and runs came pretty fast, but the latter was bowled when he had put together 17. Shrewsbury followed and aided Barlow in augmenting the scores.

Shrewsbury was caught after running up 87. Lord Harris joined Barlow and they remained in until time was called, the score standing at 85, with 2 wickets down.
