AUSTRALIANS V. ALL ENGLAND. (reuter’s telegrams.) London, August 11. The third contest between the Australian Cricketers and an Eleven of All England commenced to-day at Kensington Oval. The weather was fine, and as the greatest interest is taken in the match, the attend, ance of spectators is enormous. The ground is in good order and an excellent wicket has been pitched* The English team is composed as fob lows Dr. W. G. Grace, Lord Harris, Hon. A. Lyttelton, Messrs. W, W. Read, A. G. Steel, Baric w, Barnes, Peate, Scotton, Shrewsbury, and Ulyett. The Australians won the toss and went first to the wickets, McDonnel and Bannerman being sent in as usual to open play. The latter soon succumbed, having only contributed 4 when he was caught. Murdoch then became McDonnel’s partner, and both batsmen soon got firmly set. McDonnell hit freely all round, aaid Murdoch being also in good form, runs came rapidly. The century was reached without a separation being effected, and latest telegrams from the Oval state that McDonnell is not out with 86 to his credit, and Murdoch not out with 36.
In the cricket match at Clifton, in the Australians first innings, Scott was highest scorer with 79, bowled. In the second innings the Gloucestershire score stood at 230 with two wickets down, when play ceased. Brain scored 108 (1.b.w.), and Pullen 68 (not out.)
