Small-Pox.
FRESH CASES. (Per Press Association.) Dunedin, August 12. Small-pox is reported to have broken out at Carey’s Bay, near Port Chalmers, where the parents of the girl Anning lived. The girl Anning was attacked with small-pox shortly after arrival at Invercargill. Wellington, August 12. Quite a scare was created in town on a rumor that small-pox had broken out at the Lower Hutt. The rumor was quite without foundation. With reference to the reported outbreak of small-pox at Port Chalmers, Dr. DeLautour, who is attending the little girl at Carey’s Bay, says that, as well as he is able to judge at present, the disease is not emall-pox. The child has feverish symptoms, but the disease has not yet fully declared itself. Invercargill, August 12.
The child Anning, suffering from modified small-pox at the hospital, is doing very well.
