BUCKLAND’S WEEKLY REPORT. (Specially Compiled for the Telephone.) [by our own correspondent.] Auckland, August 8. At the Haymarket on Friday, August 1, fodder was in full supply without alteration in value. Prices for loose hay ranged from 2s 9d to 5s 6d; pressed hay, 5s to 5s 6d per cwt; chaff, £3 to £5 15s per ton; oats, 2s 2d to 2s 8d per bushel. Horse stock were limited in numbers, but late values were obtained. Medium draught, £l3 and upwards; riding horses, £4 to £l6. On Tuesday, at the sales of fodder, prices obtained were equal to those of the previous Friday’s sale. Hides and skins were in steady inquiry—hides from 3d to 4d per lb ; skins from Is 8d to 3s 2d each; tallow, 24s to 26s per cwt; bones, 4s per cwt. At Pukekohe there was a moderate muster of store cattle and dairy cows, which, with a fair supply of fat stock, met a steady demand at current values. At Remuera, on Thursday, dairy cattle were numerous, but generally of medium quality. Prices ranged from £4 10s to £7 15s. Fat cattle were in full numbers and steady inquiry. Prices ranged from 20s to 24s per 100 lbs. Sheep were penned in excess of the average number, but were generally of inferior quality, and those ranged from 8s to 12s each. Good wethers brought from 15s to 19s. Pigs were in brisk inquiry at late values.
