[Reuter’s Telegrams.] HOUSE OF COMMONS. CLERICAL RIOTS. MOB DISPERSED BY FIRE BRIGADE. LANGSON NEGOTIATIONS. SEIZURE OF KELUNG DENIED. London, August 8. In the House of Commons last night, Lord Edmund Fitzmaurice stated, in reply to a question, that the reported seizure by Admiral Courbett of die harbor and coal mines at Kulung, on the island of Formosa, was untrue. There had not, he added, been any rupture of the Franco-Chinese negotiations for the settlement of the Langson affair, and parleying was still proceeding. It has transpired that if the expedition to Khartoum is decided upon the force will proceed via Dongola, and not by way of Souakim as originally stated. The proposed railway from the latter place to Berber has been abandoned. Brussels, August 7. The renewal of the anti-clerical riots occured here to-day, on account of bills introduced by clerical members of the Ministry. The approaches of the chambers were guarded, and the fire brigade, which were called out to assist the police, turned their hose on the mob and deluged the crowd with water.
