NOMINATIONS. IMPROVEMENTS AT ROSELAND. PIGEON SHOOTING FACILITIES. The following second payments and nominations were omitted in error:— P. B. Guineas, 1885-86—(Second Payment). Pitt’s b f, Hope Dufaur’s b f, Woolbroker—Nora P. B. Guineas, 1886-87. Hepburn’s ch c Audacity Graham’s r f, Bothwell—Ada Mills’ Fitzjames, Maroro—Atalanta Mares’ Produce Stakes, 1886-7. Mills’ Foul Play—Molly Walsh’s Foul Play—Lady Grey Mr. E. J. Beresford, of the Roseland Hotel, has recently imported a number of pigeons, and has had premises specially fitted up for their reception. It is his intention to arrange a series of matches, which will no doubt be fully appreciated by local sportsmen. Mr. Beresford has also had a first-class running track laid down in a paddock near his house for the use of those desiring to get up sports of any kind. This will be found a great acquisition by peds., as there is at present no suitable place in the district for matches and other sports of a similar kind. The Wellington Jockey Club intend erecting a grandstand and other necessary buildings at Island Bay for their race meeting in November next. This will doubtless prove an additional attraction, and will be a pleasing contrast to the lack of these essentials at former meetings of the club.
