ACCEPTANCES.
MELBOURNE CUP SCRATCHINGS. (reuter's telegrams.) Sydney, August 4. Forty-seven horses have accepted for the Hawkesbury Grand Handicap, forty-five for the County Purse, and forty-two for the Metropolitan Stakes. The acceptances are considered very satisfactory. Melbourne, August 4. The following scratchings for the Cup have been posted to-dayßonne Fortune, Chloe, Elocution, Forward, Hawthorne, Marshall Ney, Natal, Napier, Shield, Sheet Anchor, Stafford, Buckingham, Favo, First Demon, Kate, Kathleen, Liverpool, Maggie Moore, Oudies, Princess Lome, and Wing.
[Per Press Association.] Auckland, August 5. At a meeting of the Auckland Racing Club the accounts showed a credit balance of £1,200.
