J BATTERY.
The usual monthly inspection parade took place last night, before Captain Porter, who complimented the corps on its splendid muster, which was about the best we have seen for a long time past, all the members of the corps being present. After drill the Battery order for die coming month was read, to the effect that Captain Winter, Sergt. Allom, Corpl. O’Meara, and Bomb. Morriosn were detailed off for orderly duty. A general meeting of the members was then held in the orderly-room when a lengthy discussion in reference to a matter in connec-
tion with the corps, and of purely a private nature, took place, after which it was decided on die proposition of Lieut. Boylan to communicate with the Christchurch volunteers in order to glean all particulars in regard to this new m- ivra-nt d. : h they propose to take ■ n attempting to have the New Zen’a!. l corns
worked on the same system as those of Au; tralia.
