DAIRY FACTORY.

Through some inadvertence, notice of a meeting of directors in the local Cheese. Butter, and Bacon Factory was not forwarded us in time for a report to appear in yesterday’s issue. We have, however, gleaned the following particulars : — Mr. S. Locke occupied the Chair. Mr. W. Common being unable to accept the position of treasurer through pressure of private business, Captain Chri.«p was offered and accepted the office. The Secretary (Mr. Murchie) expected to have £6OO in the bank in a fortnight’s timo. One of the conditions of which land for purposes of the factory was taken over was that Mr. Bloomfield was to take fifty shares in the concern. The land was now in the hands of the Bank of New Zealand and the manager could not promise to fulfil the condition. It was thought advisable by several speakers to get a good sum in hand before stalling to build, and it was suggested that less land would do to start with.

Mr. Locke thought the present a most favorable time to start the factory, so that they would have everything in full swing

when things looked up. If the venture was not gone on with now they would repent it. Mr. Finneran, (the Company’s architect), understood now what was required, and thought a start could be made with £B5O for buildings. The Secretary thought the plant would cost about £3OO.

Messrs. Locke, Cameron, and Walsh, were deputed to try and come to some arrangement about the land. After the usual vote of thanks to the chair the meeting adjourned until Saturday week.
