The Recidivists Question.

[Reuteb’s Telegrams.] Loxdon, July 28.

In the House of Commons to-day the Hon. Evelyn Ashley, Colonial Under-Secretary, in reply to a question, stated that the earnest representation made by England on the subject of the I'eoidiviste question, is now seriously occupying the attention of the French Government. He also added that the Imperial Government would not interfere with any reasonable measures that might be adopted in the colonies for their self-pro-tection against an influx of criminals.
