THE FORESHORE VALUATIONS

We have been handed the following* for publication:— “ Mr. Joyce.—Dear Sir, —As a citizen and ratepayer I wish to return you my sincere thanks for the manly and straightforward manner in which you have tried to protect the interests of the burgesses in the Common Shelton case. After a residence in the colony of twenty-eight years, and living in most of the principal towns, I am compelled to say that this is the meanest bit of business I have seen. Should you stand again at any future election you will get a block vote from me.—Yours truly, G. Houghton. P.S.—I ought to have included Mr. Tutchen and Mr. Hepburn. Gisborne, July 24,1884.”
