[Per United Press Association.] DESTRUCTIVE FIRE. Auckland, July 17. A fire broke out last night in the farm buildings belonging to John Phillips at Patroa, near Helensville, and they, as well as the stock and valuable implements were destroyed, the horses, however, was saved. The insurances are, farm buildings, £3OO in the New Zealand; agricultural implements and farm produce, £3.000 in the Union ; and horses, £7OOO in the Union. FATAL ACCIDENT. Michael McNamee, while working in Cantram’s firewood yard, accidentally fell on a circular saw, and one arm was cut off and the other nearly severed. He died after the amputation of the injured arm at the hospital. Wellington, July 17. The steamer Orawaiti, from Westport dropped her propeller in the Straits, and was towed into harbour by the steamer Waihi. Arrived: Tamsui, steamer from Foo Chow, with the new season’s tea. The Zealandia, With the June English mails, left San Francisco for Auckland on the 6th, one day late.
