HOLY TRINITY CHURCH.

ANNUAL PARISH MEETING. A number of persons of both sexes attended at the Schoolroom last evening in answer to an announcement made from the pulpit on Sunday last, intimating that there would be a meeting for the purpose of electing fresh vestrymen, one churchwarden, and auditors for the coming year. It has been customary to advertise these meetings, and we are of opinion the Diocesan rules require that a notice be posted on the church door at least ten days before the day of meeting, announced in the church, and notified as publicly as possible. In this particular instance the Vestry have not carried out what is directed by statute. At 7.30 p.m., a good many parishioners waited outside opposite the Church, and no one seemed to know where the meeting was to be held. After sometime the Rev. W. Fox, came across from the parsonage, and someone found Mr. Morgan, and an entrance was obtained to the schoolroom. The Rev. the Incumbent opened the meeting as usual with prayers, and then stated he was glad to meet the members of the Church, and proceeded to make an apology for remissness oq his part for not announcing the meeting on Sunday evening. He then intimated that he woutd nominate Mr. Booth as his church warden, and it was required of those present to elect one warden, not less than five or more than ten vestrymen, who should be communicants (this rule has been departed from heretofore). At this stage Mr. Rees got up and made some sort of apology for the absence of the parishioner warden, Mr. De Lautour, and suggested that the business for which those present had met together, should be adjourned for three weeks, with the exception of the election of parish officers, which he (Mr. Rees) urged should be proceeded with. Mr. Matthews seconded Mr. Rees views, with the exception that one week’s adjournment would be sufficient. Mr. Greenwood proposed, seconded by Dr. Pollen, that inasmuch as the minute book could not be found, and owing to the young man who was entrusted with the making up of the balance sheet, could not, through some mistake or omissson get it ready for the auditors, the meeting be adjourned until Tuesday 15th. A show of hands-was taken and the proposition was carried.
