It is anticipated that Parliament Houses, Brisbane, will be lit by electricity, on the Edison system, during the session of 1885. Mr. Johnson, Chief Inspector of Schools, New South Wales, recommends the reading of authorized Scripture lessons in public schools. A Fijian policeman swam through the breakers from the wreck of the Syria with a coolie child in each arm, and the mother on his back. At the Poultry and Cattle Show at Christchurch, there will be exhibited a tortoiseshell cat, which won the silver cup at the late Crystal Palace Show.
