[Per United Press Association.] New Plymouth, July 25. H. M. Calders, late postmaster atPavihaka, and in the A.C. Force, was committed for embezzling moneys belonging to the Government. Dunedin, June 25. The house of Charles Paree, at Mornington, was totally destroyed by fire last night. It was insured for £2OO in the Royal. Wellington, Juno 25. Captain Berg, of the cutter Lena, which arrived last night, reports that lie passed a quantity of wreckage at the entrance of Tory Channel, including a piece of mast, evidently the portion from the deck to keelson, 14 in. to 16 in. in diameter, newly painted, and also side planking, painted black, and deck planking, all kauri; some of the side planking is marked as for iron flanges. From the painting, in all probability the wreckage beongs to a steamer. The breaks in the timber vere quite new. From the size of the mast t appeared to belong to a vessel of 100 tons.
