[Per Press Association.] MATCH BETWEEN” HANLON AND HEARN AT WELLINGTON. Wellington, June 19. The offer made by a Wellington resident to match Hearn, the New Zealand champion sculler, against Hanlon has been accepted by the latter. The match will be rowed in Wellington Harbor over a three-and-a-half mile course, and the stakes will be £2OO a-side—Hanlon receiving £5O as expenses for coming here and two-thirds of whatever is taken in gate money. A meeting of Hearn’s supporters is to be called to inaugurate a subscription list and make necessary arrangements. No date has yet been fixed for the match, but it is expected to be rowed towards the end of August. CRICKET.—AUSTRALIANS V. CAMBRIDGE. [Reuter’s Telegrams.] London, June 19. The cricket match, Australian v. Cambridge University, was resumed to-day, the Australians having 4 wickets down for 112 continued their first innings, and remained in all day, scoring 378, before the last wicket fell. The following are principal scorers:— Murdoch, c 132; Bonnor, c 44 ; Palmer (not out) 68 ; Scott, c 37. There was a good attendance of spectators, and fine weather was again experienced.
