TURANGANUI AND WAIMATA BRIDGES.

The following telegram has been received from Wellington. Town Clerk, Gisborne.

He plans of bridge over the Turanganui River, the Marine Engineer reports that the plans with certain alterations may be approved. Another proposal, however, was made, that by using the bridge over the Taruheru, building another over the Waimata, and joining these by a road and making a short piece of road from the Waimata to join the present line of road, a considerable saving would be made, and more room would be left for the accommodation of vessels in the Turanganui River. I presume this proposal was fully considered before the bridge over the Turanganui was decided upon. W. Seed.
