IN pursuance.of “ The Regulation of Elections Act, 1881,” I, DAVID JOHNSTON, Jun., Returning officer for the Electoral district of East Coast, do hereby give notice that by virtue of a Writ bearing date the 24th day of May, 1884, under the hand of the Clerk of the Writs, an ELECTION will be held for the return of one qualified person to serve as Member for the said Electoral District; and that the Nomination of Candidates will take place at the Court House, Gisborne, at Noon on the 9th day of JUNE 1884 ; and that the Poll (if necessary) will be taken at the several polling places of the said District on the 16th day of JUNE, 1884.
