BUCKLAND’S WEEKLY REPORT. [from our own correspondent.] Auckland, May 29, At the Haymarket on Friday, May 23, oats brought 2s. 9d. and 2s. lid. the bushel, and fodder up to 4s. 6d. the cwt. Horse stock were again in full numbers, with a numerous attendance of buyers. Good stock were in demand at full values, but inferior horses are at nominal prices. Well bred heavy draught inares ranged from £3l to £5l, medium draught £l2 to £l5, inferior horses from 255. each. At the hide and skin sale on Tuesday, the prices of hides varied, according to the care taken with them, from IJd. to 3.}d. the lb., showing the advantage of their being free from cuts, kept clean, and well salted. Tallow 28s. 6d. per cwt. Sheepskins from Is. 2d. to 2s. 6d. each. At Pokeno on Monday a larger than usual muster of stock found ready buyers at the auction at current values; but at Drury on Wednesday the cattle were in less number than usual, but met with a steady inquiry at slightly improved values. At the Remuera yards on Thursday dairy cattle near calving’were plentiful and in brisk inquiry. Prices for good cows ranged from £7 to £lO each. Store cattle were dull of sale. Fat cattle were in usual number and generally of good quality, prices advanced, and for drafts of fairly fatted cattle were at 225. throughout, and an occasional choice pen reached 255. or 265. per 100 lbs. Sheep were in usual quantity, but the greater number of them were not of a prime quality, and were dull of sale, but well-fatted wethers sold freely. Some averages were—6 oxen, James Taylor. £lO 155.; 7 steers, J. S. Keals, £7 12s. 6d.; 8 steers, 8. Steele, £7 10s.; 18 steers, Robt. Hall, £7 155.; 170 wethers, Grice and Parker, 175.; 60 wethers, A. Main, 16s. 3d.; 60 sheep, J. Thomson, 18s. 9d.; 240 wethers, Auckland Agricultural Company, 13s. 3d.
