CRICKET.—AUSTRALIANS V. SURREY. InevTßß’s irLioßAsis.? London, May 19. The Australian Cricketers commenced their third match to-day, when they met eleven of the County Surrey. The weather was splendid and the Kensington Oval was crowded with spectators, by whom great interest was taken in the game. The visitors went in first and their innings closed for a total of 195. Mac Donnell, c 37, and Scott, c 11, being the highest scorers. The Home team then went to the wickets and as play closed for the dav their innings ended for 97 runs, towards which Mr. Akroyd was the highest contributor with 35. For the Australians Spofforth and Boyle bowled splendidly, the former taking 4 wickets for 20 runs, and Boyle 4 for 10. INTERNATIONAL FOOTRALT, MATCH. [Ps» Association Tzlzobbms.i Wbixc-gtos, May 20. Steady rain has been falling all day, and it 1b considered doubtful whether the New Zealand football team will be able to play their match against the local team to-morrow. Should they be prevented the team will not have a chance of playing together until their first match in Sydney. NAPIER RACES. Napier, May 21. The following are the nominations received for the Hawke’s Bay Steeplechase Handicap to be run on January 28:—Clarence, Wild Dayrell, Morning Star, Grey, Momus, Chandler, Scrutineer, Agent, Druid, Denbigh, Canard, Parnell, Bateman, Diomedes, Southern Chief, Mount and Wideawake.
