Crowded Out.—On account of the lengthened report of last nights meeting we are compelled to hold over numerous items c* news. Wellington.—At the Police Court to-day W. C. McDermott, who was charged with embezzlement of monies from the Government Insurance Department, was sentenced to six months’ imprisonment with hard labor.

Harbor Board.—The ordinary fortnightly meeting of the Harbor Board will be held to-night.

Seal Fishing.— The prohibition against hunting and catching seals has been extended to two years longer. Lottie Wilmotte—well known throughout the colonies, died at the Hutt on Thursday last.

Greenstone.—A splendid sample of greenstone, weighing about one cwt., is to be viewed at the office of Messrs. Porter and Croft, Lowe street.

The s.s. Kangaroo.—The enquiry into the stranding of this vessel has been adjourned until Thursday next.

The Fusilier.—The efforts which are being made to float this ship seems likely to be successful. She has already been moved upwards of 50 feet. Public Meetings.—Public meetings will be held at Makaraka Hall to-morrow night, and at Ormond on Thursday night for the purpose of discussing the present representation of the district.

R.M. Court.—There were only three cases heard at the R.M, Court this morning, tru.. Moss v, Beresford adjourned. Teat and Fryer v. C. W. Buller. Claim, £3 -Is. 7d. Judgment for plaintiff by default, with costs, 7s.—Te Mera v. Heperinui. Claim, £1 9s. This case was allowed to stand over as there was only one Native Assessor on the Bench.

Salvation Funeral.—The funeral of a child belonging to a member of the Salvation Army took place yesterday afternoon at Wellington. The procession was headed by the Army band and followed by the “ soldiers” and “ Halleluljah lasses,” and children. The ceremony was witnessed by a large number of people. Hanlon.—The Canadian Champion has written the following letter to some Wellington gentlemen :—“ In reply to your letter of ehe 21st March, I have to say that my visit to New Zealand will depend a good deal on what prospects are held out in the way of rowing exhibitions or matches. I am quite prepared to make a match with Hearn, the New Zealand champion, on the following terms.—Stakes to be £5OO a-side, and Ito be allowed £l5O for my expenses in going to New Zealand.”
