With a view to arrive at a solution of the financial difficulties of the Oriental Bank, a scheme is now being matured for the purpose of forming a new bank to take over the liabilities and assets of the insolvent corporation. May 10. The formation of a new bank to take over ■Jie business of the Oriental Bank Corporation is now proceeding, under the direction of the Company’s solicitor. The Homeward mails via San Francisco, dated Auckland, April Ist., was delivered here yesterday. Egan and Daley, the dynamiters who were arrested three weeks ago at Birkenhead and Birmingham, have been committed for trial. SERIOUS RISING IN ZULULAND. Cape Town, May 9. Intelligence is to hand from Zululand that a serious rising of the tribes has occurred there, and that Mr, Osborne, the British Resident there, has asked the Imperial authorities for immediate military assistance. THE TONQUIN DIFFICULTY. Hong Kong, May 9. Latest telegrams received here from Pekin states that the Imperial Chinese Council has condemned the proposal submitted to them by Lee Hong Tsao, Secretary of State, in favor of the immediate conclusion of peace with France.
