BUCKLAND’S WEEKLY REPORT. [from our own correspondent.] Auckland, May 9. At the Haymarket on Friday, May 9, fodder ranged from 2s lOd to 2s 6d to 4s 3d per cwt.; oats, 2s lOd to 2s lid; maize, 4s 3d per bushel; bone dust, £5 5s per ton. Horse stock were in full supply, and the whole of the imported consignments were cleared. Prices for medium draught were fairly sustained, but heavy draught were at lower values. Prices for best heavy draught ranged from £25 to £36; medium draught, £l7 to £25.
On Tuesday, at the hide and skin sale, late values of hides were sustained. Prices for best were 3jd per lb.; fat, 23s per cwt.; sheepskins, from lOd to 2s 5d each. At Waiuku, on Saturday, a small muster of cattle met with a dull sale, the continuous dry weather affecting the value. At Pukekohe, on Monday, there was a full muster of stock and a numerous attendance. The greater number yarded were sold at satisfactory prices. At Remuera, on Thursday, dairy cows and heifers near calving were unusually numerous. Good animals were in demand at full rates, but medium were lower in price. Store cattle were scarcely saleable. Fat cattle were in full numbers and prices were without alteration; 18s the lOOlbs may be quoted as the value of well-farmed steers. Sheep were in full numbers, some of unusually good quality. There was no improvement on last week’s values. Store pigs were numerous and in good inquiry; small sized fat pigs were also in full numbers, and in demand at |d. per lb.
