A cottage occupied by Sergeant-major O’Grady, was burned down this morning at three o’clock. The house being old burned very rapidly, and was wrapped in flames when the brigade arrived. The sounds of crashing glass awakened the sergeant, who had considerable difficulty in saving his wife and children. The furniture and other effects were entirely destroyed, the only things saved being a few articles of wearing apparel belonging to his daughter. The house was not insured. The origin of the fire is supposed to be through a defective chimney.
