Extensive Fires.
GREAT DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY. Dunedin, May 3. A fire occurred on the farm of Hood and Crawford, at Clarksville on Monday. Two stacks—one of wheat and one of oats—were destroyed, the loss being £lBO. No insurance. A five-stalled stable and a room attached, belonging to J. Telford, of Albert Downs, was destroyed by fire on Friday. Insured in the Victoria office for £4O. Auckland, May 3. A fire at Coromandel destroyed Barrett’s hotel, Faulkner’s store, and an empty house. The fire originated in Faulkner’s store. The insurances are: — Barrett’s, £lOO in the Imperial; Faulkner’s, £5O in an unknown ; and the empty hoase for £lOO in the Norwich Union. A fourteen-stalled stable was burned down early this morning. Insured for £l4O in the London and Lancashire. The loss over the insurance is £250. Oamaru, May 3. A stack of oats, the property of Mr. Menlove, of Windsor Park, was destroyed by fire this morning. Incendiarism is suspected. An unoccupied house was burned down to-day. Insured for £l5O in the Colonial office.
