(reuter’s telegrams.) TERRIBLE CATASTROPHE. London, April 30. Telegrams from Havanah, the capital of Cuba, state that a terrible catastrophe has occurred there. The powder magazine at the Arsenal exploded, and the shock also caused a gasometer in the neighborhood to blow up. Immense damage was done to the adjoining buildings, and a number of persons in the vicinity lost their lives. A ROYAL MARRIAGE. May Ist. The marriage of Prince Louis, of Battenburg, with Princess Victoria, of Hesse Darmstadt was celebrated yesterday at Darmstadt, with great ceremony. Her Majesty Queen Victoria, the Prince and Princess of Wales, and the German Crown Prince were present. The Queen did not attend the banquet which followed, on account of the recent death of the Duke of Albany. THE NEW GOVERNOR. Sir H. B. Loch, the newly appointed Governor of Victoria, has decided to sail on the 24th inst. THE CRICKET TEAM. Arrangements have been made with the Australian team for a match at Birmingham on the 26th, and following days. CREMATION. In the House of Commons last night a Bill to legalise the cremation of dead bodies was rejected after debate. MORE DYNAMITE OUTRAGES. Toronto, Canada, April 30. A plot to destroy the Parliament buildings in this city has been frustrated. Several powerful dynamite cartridges, with fuses attached ready for firing, were discovered this evenining in the basement of the building, and promptly destroyed. The affair has caused intense excitement. There is no clue as yet to the guilty parties.
