(REUTER’S TELEGRAMS.) CONFERENCE OF POWERS ON EGYPTIAN AFFAIRS. London, April 24. It has transpired that a note has recently been addressed to European Governments by the British Government, suggesting that a Conference should be held to consider the present state of Egyptian affairs. In their replies all the Powers have assented to the principle involved, and it is understood that a meeting of European plenipotentiaries will take place at an early date. THE ORIENT COMPANY. The Orient Steam Navigation Co. declares no dividend for the past half-year, but carries forward £7,000 to the reserve fund. IMPORTANT TRIAL. The trial of suspects who were arrested on charges of complicity in the murder of Mrs. Henry J. Smyth, and an attack on Carlow Smith and Lady Henrietta Monk, near Willucan, Westmeath, on April 2, 1882, concluded today, when five men were sentenced to ten years’ penal servitude.
