[Per United Press Association,] MINISTERIAL MOVEMENTS, Wellington, April 16. Major Atkinson, who intended going South this evening, has postponed his departure for the present, but will probably leave in eight or ten days. The Premier leaves for Dunedin on Friday next, and speaks there next Wednesday. THE THORNDON SEAT. Mr. Bunny, a candidate for the Thorndon seat, addressed a large meeting last night, at the termination of which he received an unanimous vote of confidence. THE EASTER ENCAMPMENT. The Volunteer Camp broke up yesterday, after a review and sham fight. The weather was delightful and upwards of 5,000 spectators were present, including the Premier and Mr. Bryce. The latter addressed the officers, expressing his satisfaction at the excellent display. The Nelson and Wanganui volunteers left for home by the steamer last night. The Alexandra Cavalry leave overland for Wanganui to-day. THE BOYLE CASE. The case of Kate Boyle, who was convicted of infanticide recently, has been considered by the Government, and a recommendation has been made to his Excellency for her release. THE MURDERESS DONOGHUE. Dr. Grabham, Inspector of Lunatic Asylums who is now on official visits South, has been instructed to report as to the sanity of the prisoner Donoghue, condemned for murder at Greymouth. It is understood that an examination has been made, and Dr. Grabham’s report will probably reach here this week. MORE FIRES. A fire took place yesterday morning at Palmerston North which destroyed an eightroomed house owned and occupied by Mrs. Coleman, in Cuba Street. Some of the furniture was saved, but the building was completely destroyed. Insurances — building, £250 in the New Zealand, and £l5O on the furniture in the same office. Dunedin, April 15. A bottling house at McGraid, McGregor and Smith’s brewery, Water of Leith, and some other outhouses were burnt down yesterday morning. The damage done is estimated at £1,200, a large quantity of stock being destroyed. I was insured for £6OO in the Royal. A fire had been left in the bottling house. Invercargill, April 16. A disused wooden building, formerly the Governor Grey Hotel, at Avenal, has been burned down. Insured in the Union office for £2OO. Christchurch, April 15. Roundtree’s Slaughter Yards have been destroyed by fire. Insured for £3OO. THE KAIAPOI SEAT. Mr. A. Saunders has decided to become a candidate for Kaiapoi. Auckland, April 16. Smith’s sawmill at Waitakerei was burnt down this morning. Insured for £3OO in the Victoria office.
