St. Leger Stakes, Legrand .. .. .. .. 1 Martini-Henri 2 Only these two started, and Legrand won easily by two lengths. Time, 3 min. 10| sec. The Doncaster Handicap was won by Ratapalan, Vickey 2nd, and Hypatia 3rd. Trial Stakes: Venetia Ist, Cairngorm 2nd, and Tremendo 3rd,
CHRISTCHURCH AUTUMN RACES. [Per Association Telegrams.] Christchurch, April 15. At the Christchurch Autumn meeting yesterday, the Free Handicap was won easily by Siesta, with Tim Whiffler 2nd, and Iris 3rd. Time, 1-48|. Great Autumn Handicap. Vanguard 1 Hippodamia 2 Lady Emma 3 Tasman, Mischief, Salvage. Sou’-wester, Ike, Poet, Rubina, Matakau, Capt. Webster, Jilt, and Leodogram also ran. A good race. Time, 2-40|. The Champagne Stakes was won by Trenton, with Lady Evelyn 2nd, and Eskatos 3rd. Time, 2-40 L Hunt Cup, Hard Times 1 Beer Tax 2 Fawn 3 Minerva appropriated the Epsom Welter Handicap, Holderness being second and Hippodamia third, AUCKLAND AUTUMN MEETIG. Auckland, April 15. The Mare’s Produce Stakes, was won by Necklace, Krupp 2 ; Carbineer 3. Selling Race.—Paramena, 1 ; Sham, 2 ; King Quail, 3. Publican’s Purse.—Consul, 1; Wapiti, 2 ; Leonora, 3. A fine race. The following is the result of the Steeplechase run to-day Chandler, list. 121 b (Rae) 1 New Year, lOst. 121 b,.. .. (Hope) 2 Billy-go-by-’em, XOst. 101 b. (Edwards) 3 Flying Scud, lOst. 51b. (Taylor) also ran. Betting: 6t04 on Chandler. Only Chandler finished. New Year pulled up dead lame after going two miles, and the others baulked repeatedly. Dividend, £1 19s. HOKITIKA RACES.
