[by electric telegraph—copybight,] [Reuter’s Telegrams.] THE INTER-COLONIAL BOAT RACE. Melbourne, April 5. The Annual fnter-colonial (Victoria v. New South Wales) Eight oar Boat Race was rowed to-day, on the Yarra River, and after a close contest was won by the Victorians by half a length. THE LATE COLLISION. An enquiry into the circumstances attending the collision between the steamships Wairarapa and Adelaide, in Port Phillip, on the 20th of February last, commences to-day, by the Victorian Navigation Board. The examination of the Adelaide’s witnesses will be proceeded with, and the enquiry will then be adjourned to Monday. April 7. The persons wounded by the recent railway accident are all progressing favorably towards recovery. The members of the Board of Enquiry have inspected the scene of the disaster. RECEPTION OF DR. BARRY. Sydney, April 5. Dr. Barry arrived this morning and met with a hearty reception from the clergy and laity. An address of welcome was presented to him, and special services were subsequently held in the Anglican Cathedral. WELCOME RAINFALL. April 7. Heavy rain has fallen pretty general I throughout the colony, and empty dams have been replenished. The downpour at Sydney was exceptionally heavy, fully ten inches having been recorded since the 4th. Parts of the city is flooded and some damage has resulted. The intermittent supply of water to the city and suburbs has been revoked. Bishop Barry preached in the Anglican Cathedral yesterday. The sermon was most eloquent, and he made special reference to the late Prince Leopold.
