REVENUE RETURNS.

[Pisa Press Association.] W ELLINGTON, A ]>l'il 3. The customs returns for the financial year, ending 31st March, have now been made up. The total amount collected throughout the colony for the year is £1,398,951 11s. 10d., leaving a deficit on the Colonial Treasurers estimate of £121,018 Bs. 2d. The beer duty for the year amounted to £56,979 14s. 9d., leaving a deficiency of £5,202 ss. 3d. on the treasurers estimate. 'The customs revenue collected in the Colony last month was £115,816 Os. 3d., as against £125,117 7s. Id. for the corresponding quarter last year. The amounts from the principal ports last month were : — Auckland, £25,091 3s. 2d.; Wellington, £20,585 ; Lyttelton and Christchurch, £16,435 9s. lid.; Dunedin, £28,869 11s. 3d. The beer duty for last month was £4,740 9s. 4d , as against £5,669 14s. 4d for March, 1883. The principal towns contributed as follows:—Last month—Auckland, £993 19s. Id ; Wellington, £402 19s. 6d.; Christchurch, £907 Ils. 6d.; Dunedin, £lOB9 17s. The following are the details of Customs Revenue collected in the Colony last quarter: — Auckland, £80,947 19s. 10d.; Thames, £1,671 14s. 4d.; Russell, £5OO 19s. Id.; Mongonui, £6O 13s. Gel.; Tlokianga, £B9 Is. 2d.; Kaipara, £377 16s. 10d.; Tauranga, £676 13s. 10d.; Poverty Bay, £3,061 16s. 6d.; New Plymouth, £1,506 ss. Id. ; Wanganui, £3,462 16s. lid. ; Roxton. £224 ss. 7d.; Wellington, £64,418 ss. lOd. ; Napier, £10,615 11s. 7d. ; Wairau, £1,806 6s. ; Picton, L 24 Ils. Id. ; Nelson, £10,581 4s. 2d. ; Westport, L 2,345 ; Hokitika, L 4,559 9s. lOd. ; Greymouth, L 5,822 18s. 6d. ; Lyttelton and Christchurch, L 51,732 14s. 6d. ; Tiinaru, L 5,576 os. sd. ; Oamaru, L 3,496 ss. ; Invercargill, L 8,913 13s. ; Dunedin, L 99.356 6s. 6d. ; Riverton, 1.577 6s. 3d. Total L 362,535 15s. 4d. For the corresponding quarter last year the amount was L 377,767 Is. 9d.
