The Victorian Revenue returns for last quarter have been published, the receipts amount to £1,640,000, an increase of £165,500 compared with the’ same quarter last year. The Customs Revenue increased by £1,300, Laud Income by. £72,000, and.the Railway receipts by,,£§6,000. The Excise Revenue has decreased by £43,000. (Received April 1, ‘8.20 p.m.) Sydney, April 1. The New South Wales revenue returns were published to-day. The receipts for the quarter amounted to £1,500,000, being a decrease of £14,500 as compared with the corresponding period of last year. The revenue for the year amounted to £6,460,000, being £794,000 below last year’s receipts. The diminution is attributed to the falling off in the land revenue, which shows a decrease of £1,180,000 for the year. COMMUTATION OF DEATH SENTENCE. The Prisoner Williams, who was sentenced to death for Wooloomooloo murder, has had the death sentence commuted to penal servitude for life, and will received three floggings. Tho appeal case White v. Davis was concluded to-day, and resulted in the decision of the lower Court being reversed. (Received April 2, 0.65 a.m. April 2. The Manager of the National Mortgage Company New Zealand, Limited, reports of the local grain market as follows : —Wheat, 4s |d. to 4s. Id , market active; malting barley in fair demand at 4s. 4d. to 4s. Bd. ; New •Zealand oats (feeding sorts) firmer, 2s. 6d. to 2s. 9d., for milling, ditto ; there is a good demandat 2s. lOd. to 2s. lid. ; New Zealand oats, under bond, 2s. sd. and 2s. Bd. ; rye grass, 4s. to Is. 3d., market quieter. Adelaide, April 1. The South Australian Revenue Return for March quarter, show, the .total receipts, to be i £547,000, a de-creasg-of £31,500 compared with the 'corresponding period of 1883. The falling off was chiefly in the Customs (£25,000), Land Revenue (£35,000). The income from Railways has increased by £28,000,
