The schooners Orpheus and Opotiki sailed on Sunday afternoon for Mercury Bay. It being nearly calm, the schooners had to have recourse to the slow-tugging process of row-boats. On getting out clear of the bar and reef, a light breeze sprirg up, which enabled them to stand across the Bay, close hauled towards Nick’s Head, where they went about and stood on their course.
