R. M. COURT, GISBORNE.

(Before J. Booth, Esq., R.M.) YESTERDAY. Upon the application of Mr. Eyre Kenny, an order was granted under “ The Married Women’s Property Protection Act, 1880,” to protect the earnings of Mrs. Moylan against her husband, on the ground of his habitual drunkenness and cruelty. The evidence proved a long course of ill-treatment. The husband had been remonstrated with by Dr. Pollen, who warned him that his wife was suffering from heart-disease, and that his brutal conduct might some day cause her death. He had also been twice convicted of assaulting his wife, and fined and bound over to keep the peace, but all to no purpose.
