(Xcw ZedtaM lieraid} Hamilton, Feb. 19; Another case of typhoid fever has occurred in East Hamilton. Mrs. Barker; the mother of the child who was taken ill with the lever ten days ago, is now laid up. The other children of the family have been attending the East Hamilton Public School till to-day, but steps have been taken to prevent their attendance for a time. The East Hamilton School Committee have recorded their votes in favor of Messrs. Cooper, Moat, and Hobbs. Alfred Wild, a child about nine years of age, son of Constable Wild, was driving a horse before him, when the animal struck out and kicked the boy, but fortunately he was hot struck with the full force of the blow; It wks; however, severe enough to cause a slight fracture of the collar-bone; I regret to say that Mrs. W. Chitty was also a sufferer by the buggy accident on the Hukanui Road on Friday last, having severely sprained one of her ankles. The operation performed on Thursday last by Dr. Haines, of Auckland, in removing two large tumors, weighing 121b5., from the womb, has been most successful. Mrs. Ryan, the patient, is progressing most favorably under the after care of Dr. Blunden and Mr. R. F. Sandes. It is deserving of record that Dr. Haines generously returned half his fee to the fund raised by public subscription for the nursing of the sick woman, WhatawHata) Feb. 10; A son of Mr; Patrick Oorboy met with a severe accident last week; He was thrown from his horse, and for some days feeling considerable pain in one arm, he came into Hamilton and consulted Dr. Carey, when that gentleman found that one Of the bones in the wrist was broken; Ngaruawahia, Feb. 19. An exhibition of the light was given at Messrs. Simpson and Lewis's store on Saturday night, and created considerable surprise and satisfaction. It is probable that Cambridge, which has a Yankee go-ahead-ness about its public men, will take the matter up. The cricket-club has Accepted the challenge of the Otahuhu club to a match, on the 24th and 25th proximo; The club is not working smoothly; Mr. Sharp, the energetic secretary, has resigned, and Mr. H. Cussen, who has just returned straight from the Tubus, knew nothing of the reported robbery of stores from ths cache of the survey party. If it be true, it can be merely a case of individual theft committed by a few lawless Natives, and without any political significance, as Mr. Cussen’s trig survey party, and those of Messrs. Edgecombe and Spencer, surveying the boundary line, have met everywhere with the most friendly greetings from the Natives; The election of Licensing Commissioners takes place on Saturday, and there is likely to be considerable excitement over ft. The candidates are Messrs. Berry, Cowan, Oockerline, J. W. Ellis, J. G. Elmsley, J. Farrell, J. Hutchinson, A. Kay, W. Qualtrough, and J. L. Tole. dAMBRtDGE, Feb. 10.
