CORRESPONDENCE.
(We do not hold ourselves responsible for the opinion expressed by our correspondents). “ GISBORNE GAS COMPANY.” TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—>ln your contemporary’s issue of yesterday appeared a letter signed “ Intending Consumer,” in which he states that either “ the directors of the Company who were sanguine of having the town lit with gas by the end of June next, are deluding the public, or Mr. Joyce, who stated that we are not likely to have the gas for two winters in any case” and asks the editor which statement is correct. Now I fail to see why “ lutendinc Consumer,” who may be the secretary, should ask a question which it is impossible for the editor to answer before the end of June, and although wishing the Company every success, still I am of opinion that the town will not be lit with gas by the end of June, although “ Intending Consumer” may naturally use his exertions in forwarding the industry,— Yours &c. t E. P. Joyce, A shareholder.
