GISBORNE INSTITUTE.

The adjourned meeting of the gentlemen elected as a Committee for the purpose of organising the above Institute was held last night at the residence of Dr. Pollen. Present—The Ven. Archdeacon Williamf (in the chair), and Messrs. Tucker, DeLautour, Ingle, Morgan, and Dr. Pollen. The Chairman read a report of the deputation which had waited on the Library Committee with a view of ascertaining the feelings of the latter body a 8 institutions working together. The result of the consultation was as follows:— “The Library Committee will be pleased to assist the proposed new Institute in every way, and will be willing to permit a room to be built on its land, the plans to be subject to its approval, costing not less than £5O, on account of which it will admit the members of the proposed Institute as members of the Library, with all the privileges affixed thereto for the year.” The report further stated that the Library Committee had expressed themselves most anxious to meet the new Institute every way. It was finally resolved—“ That Messrs. DeLautour and Morgan be requested to draw up a report for the general meeting, to bo iield at the Gisborne Public School-room at 7.30 p.m. on Monday evening next.” The meeting then terminated.
