To Travel the District this Season, the CLYDESDALE STALLION SIR JULIUS VOGEL SIR JULIUS VOGEL, by imported Major, out of Kate, the Champion Prise Mare of Christchurch and Dunedin, Sin Julius Voobi was bred by Mr Holly, of Christchurch, the breaker of Champion, who also gained First Prise three years in succession at the Auckland Show. Sib J vlivs is a horse of great hair, bone, and substance, and for action has no equal of his class. Imported Major was bred in England, and sold to the late John Commode, of Tasmania, for £lOOO, and thsn purchased by the late Ben Newel, Esq., for the sum of £lBOO, for New Zealand, where his stock are deemed, in Auckland and Wanganui, the guinea stamp at first sight, without further investigation, He is now in Canterbury, where stock owners often ride thirty hnd forty miles to see Major, and good judges say that Major is the most perfect horse that over left England. The tamed Nugget, in Waikato, io by Major, and Mr T. Greg’s Young Major, at Wanganui. The greatest favorite in all that part ia a son to the renowned old horse; the best mares north and south trace docent to Major ; likewise the prise-taken at the Auckland Show for many years. Bib Julius ia now rising 7 years old. As a proof of Major’s quality, Kate, the Champion Prize Mare of Canterbury and Otago (where good Clydesdale stock is appreciated), was mated to the renowned chesnut, Old Major.
