He was bred by Mr Donald Fraser, Rangitikei, by Traducer, dam Fair Lass, by Riddlesworth, grand dam Fair Wave, imported from Sydney. Fair Wave was supposed to be one of the grandest Arab mares ever imported to New Zealand. Nkw Chum has shown his good breeding both on the turf and at the stud. He made his first appearance in Wellington, where he started in a two-and-a-half mile race, weight for age, beating Whitefoot, Gazelle, and others. Then went to Napier, where he was beaten by Never Miss by a head, New Chum carrying 211bs over, Never Miss beating Lady Grey and others. He then saddled for the Consolation, beating Wairarapa, Lady Grey and Wide-awake. Terms, £3 10s each mare, Two or more mares, the property of the same owner, as per agreement.
