TRIUMPH ENQUIRY.

[Peb Association Telegbam] . Auckland, Jan. 6. The Triumph enquiry closed last evening, Mr. Brassey did not call any for the chief officer, but contended he had carried out his duties, and no blame was attached to him. Mr. Hesketh addressed the court on behalf of the captain. He said it was a case of pure misfortune, and whatever was the result of the trial it was the captain’s ruin. Mr. Williamson asked the Bench, in his address, to cancel the captain’s certificate, as he was not fit to have command of a ship and people’s lives. As to the chief officer, he was not free from blame, and should be made to bear a proportion of the cost. The Court reserved judgment till Monday.
