Stock and Produce Markets.—Buckland’s weekly report:—At the hay-market on Friday last, December 26, straw sold at extreme prices, and there is an enquiry for far more than is brought forward. The horse-market was filled with horse-stock of all cl asses. Good drafts are scarce, and maintain their price, but medium riding-horses and unbroken stock of all classes are at much lower values. There was a lower than usual muster of hides and skins on Monday last They brought late prices—hides up to 3d. the lb.; best skins, 3s. 4d. and 3s. 6d. each; tallow, 235. to 255. the cwt. At Remuera on Thursday last a few dairy cows only were yarded. These brought from £6 to £7 10s. each. Store cattle were dull of sale at barely late values. Fat cattle in full numbers, and of good quality, fully sustained late prices. No store sheep were yarded. Fat sheep were in as usual numbers, and maintained their price. Lambs were short of the requirement, and better worth 2s. each. Fat lambs and porkers were also in good enquiry.
